With the move of the gatehouse, you can now see a garden that rarely gets exposure, what we have tagged the north bed of the Picnic Garden. This narrow garden runs along the ramp behind the new gatehouse and features many plants that like a bit shadier lifestyle. Japanese maples, miniature pines and rhododendrons dominate this area. Currently blooming is Rhododendron ‘P.J.M.’ and Pieris japonica ‘Spring Snow’. Hopefully these will hold up to the soon-to-come spring snow! Magnolia x soulangiana is also starting to bloom.

Love the picture because I can feel that spring is upon us and that makes me happy.
