Ghosts in the Gardens Tours
As you step onto the stone walkway leading into Denver Botanic Gardens, exotic and colorful plants welcome you and sprinkle the landscape, painting a masterpiece that is straight from a dream. While wrapped in the warm Colorado sunshine we are able to embrace the natural splendor within the Gardens. After the sunsets, however, Denver Botanic Gardens is rumored to welcome another form of visitors who have called this soil home long before our first flower laid its roots.
When darkness floats over our gardens the cheerful tone can begin to change. It’s been heard that lights mysteriously flicker and bodiless footsteps can be heard around every corner. For some, the hair on the back of their necks prickles and one can get the feeling that you are not alone. Before Denver Botanic Gardens construction began in 1951, our grounds were known as the Prospect Hill Cemetery. Inhabitants ranged from prominent men and women to infamous Wild West outlaws, many of whom can remind us of their continued rumored presence. It’s been told that doors suddenly slam and staplers disappear, showing up days later in the kitchen sink. There are moments where a wave of chills might wash over you or you could possibly even hear your name whispered in an empty room. Ghostly companions are sometimes reported to stroll our hallways, set on reminding the Gardens staff who was here first.
Observe our mystical activity first-hand by attending our Ghosts in the Gardens Tours in October. Members of our staff will escort you through the most haunted hangouts in the Gardens including the historic Waring House mansion, hidden in the shadows on the southern grounds. The Waring House is not open to the public during normal operating hours, so this is your only chance to see the inside of this exquisitely beautiful and historically haunted mansion. Ghostly stories will be told along with personal supernatural experiences of staff.
Tours will begin Friday, Oct. 15 and continue on Friday and Saturday nights through Oct. 30. Tickets are $15 for members and $20 for non-members, there are two tours per evening: one at 6-8 p.m. and another 8:30-10:30 p.m. Our phantom members love the attention, so we recommend that all tour guests are 12 and over. Embrace our haunted history on a spooky lantern-lit tour, but don’t be surprised by a shadowy figure in the distance or a disembodied tap on the shoulder.
Go here to purchase tickets today. These tours are sure to sell out!

We are interested in taking our family on the “Ghosts in the Gardens Tour”. Is it strictly that no one under 12 is allowed, or just a suggestion? Our 8 year old attends these things frequently and loves them, so we would want to bring her. Please confirm~ Thank You:)!

Kaye – We highly suggest it for children over the age of 12, however it is up to the parents discretion.

Hi – We are so disappointed that Ghosts in the Garden is sold out. We just learned about this fun tour but were late in signing up. Any chance the Gardens might add another tour for Fri or Sat night? Thanks for your consideration
