Return of the native! Gary Davis presents…

Gary Davis is well known to members and staff of Denver Botanic Gardens–he was employed here for over a quarter century, overseeing the greenhouse collections for much of that time. He is as close to “native” to the Gardens as anyone, and the Colorado Cactus and Succulent Society is excited to have been the first to lure him back for a presentation on “Succulents in the City.” He has worked in the City Greenhouses and now with Denver Zoo, where he curates a fantastic collections of tropical and subtropical plants.

Gary is a superb photographer. During his long tenure at the Gardens he oversaw the bromeliad collection and had a great love for orchids and all manner of tropical foliage plants–especially succulents. He travelled frequently to Florida and California to obtain plants for the Boettcher Memorial Tropical Conservatory. The current horticultural design in that landmark edifice owes much to Gary and his artistic eye.

Gary will speak on Tuesday, March 8, at 7 p.m. at the Morrison Center across the street from the education complex at Denver Botanic Gardens. Come enjoy Gary’s stories and marvel at the fantastic range of plants grown superbly in our city on the plains. Free admission to the talk.
