Enjoy Centennial Gardens’ First Blooms

Crocus ancyrensis - This is the first bulb that has bloomed at Centennial Gardens this year. It is classified as a snow crocus and some years it has been known to bloom the first week of January. It is small (about 2 inches tall) and the flowers are about 1/2 inch across. However, it is a great bulb to plant along a walkway or near the entrance to a house.

Sedum rupestre ‘Angelina’ - A gorgeous succulent that provides bright red and orange foliage color. This plant has four-season interest with chartreuse foliage and yellow flowers in the summer. It also is a great plant for winter containers or hanging baskets.

Iris histroides ‘George’ - This dwarf Iris has it all. It has large 3 inch flowers, earliest to bloom, fragrant and is a good naturalizer. A great bulb to experiment forcing with or add to containers for color in February.
